Employment Law is one of the practice areas in which the attorneys of STM have acquired an extensive experience, that ranges from tailoring management schemes for private entities, either domestic or held by international corporations in Romania, to preparing and negotiating collective and individual labor agreements and related specific clauses.
Working in the ever-changing Romanian employment legal environment, our attorneys have developed proficient skills in guiding major employers through negotiating and implementing individual employment contracts and collective bargaining agreements, restructuring procedures as well as in drafting internal regulations.
We advise both employers and employees through terminations and collective lay-offs and in negotiations with unions on employment rights disputes.
The STM team has also been involved in social impact activity reorganizations, including drafting and implementing restructuring programs, providing legal assistance to the management in the enforcement of restructuring programs with a view to maintaining a strict compliance with the relevant legislation, as well as with the applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Our team has developed good skills in the Social Security area, advising employers on a great variety of issues on social charges, on pension arrangements, as well as on social security entitlements during maternity and temporary work incapacity.

- Assistance of an important Romanian commercial bank in a series of negotiations following the re-establishment as branch director of a former key employee.
- Assistance of a Romanian exclusive distributor in connection with the implementation of its internal employment regulations; guidance through several pre-litigious procedures with respect to the interpretation of some individual labor contracts.
- Assistance of an important local drugs and health care goods producer on negotiating and preparing management contracts with its key employees.
- Assistance of a major Romanian mining company during the negotiations with its trade union on the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement, as well as on collective dismissals and compensation payments.
- Assistance of a representative foreign agrochemicals company on non-competition and confidentiality agreements concluded with the employees, as well as on preparing internal rules and regulations.
