Sorin is the Managing Partner of STM and a member in good standing of the Bucharest Bar. He also acts as authorized industrial property counselor with the National Chamber of Industrial Property Counselors of Romania (in: trademarks, geographical indications, industrial designs and models).
He graduated Magna cum laudae the Bucharest University - Law Faculty (1999). Prior to founding STM Sorin acted as associate to Musat and Associates Law Firm (1999-2000), and then joined Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen Law Firm, until September 2006.
Major areas of expertise include real estate, banking and finance, intellectual property, insolvency, litigation and arbitration.

Real Estate
Sorin gained significant experience in advising foreign and domestic investors, developers, landlords and tenants in finance, acquisition and development of real estate.
He handled various real estate issues, including due diligence on ownership titles, legal opinions to the local or foreign green field or equity investors, drafting and negotiating lease and sub-lease agreements, sale purchase agreements.

Banking and Finance
Working close to the banking environment and gaining knowledge of its specific factual and legal issues, Sorin acquired an extensive expertise in advising financial institutions at their top management level on the drafting, negotiating and implementation of finance agreements (with all the secured collaterals), on the interpretation, performance and termination of specific inter-bank contracts and of other banking instruments, as well as providing advise in their relation with the National Bank of Romania.

Intellectual Property
Protection of clients' IP rights and consequently of their commercial reputation is not an at-hand operation in the Romanian business environment. Sorin advises clients on all matters related to the identification, protection, exploitation and enforcement of IP rights across a wide range of sectors.

Insolvency
Sorin was involved in the insolvency cases of certain notorious Romanian companies, acting as local counsel for creditors in a broad spectrum of specific services, among which assistance to creditors' meetings and to auctions, as well as in a variety of inter-creditor disputes and claims against syndic judge's decisions.

Litigation and Arbitration
As a reputable litigator, Sorin handles all types of real estate, banking, intellectual property, capital markets and insolvency disputes and acts for a wide variety of clients, either private or governmental entities. His competencies cover all-level Romanian courts (including the Constitutional Court and the High Court of Cassation and Justice), arbitral institutions and other public jurisdictional authorities (such as the Romanian State Office for Inventions and Trademarks or the Romanian Competition Council).

Sorin is proficient in English and has a working knowledge of French.
